Shayne’s Week 14 Picks!

nfl picksGrab your paycheck!!! Find your loan shark!!! Snatch up your bookie because here we go!! Week 14 picks are here!!

Houston -3, at Jacksonville, 49.5, 6:25 p.m. NFL Network

texans jagsThere’s a Avalanche game on tonight.

Cincinnati -5.5 vs. Indianapolis, 43.5, 11 a.m. CBS

New Orleans Saints v Cincinnati BengalsWhoever wins this big game will emerge from Paul Brown Stadium with the No. 3 playoff seeding, and will most likely retain it, barring a complete collapse across the final three weeks of the season.

Colts outside linebacker Robert Mathis could make some meaningful team history against the Bengals, needing one more sack to pass ex-teammate Dwight Freeney as both the career sack leader for Indianapolis and single-season record holder.

As for who wins?? The Bengals win the game but won’t cover. I’m taking Indy and taking the points.

Atlanta at Green Bay, 11 a.m. Fox (No Line)

packersWill Aaron Rodgers come back and return some respectability to my fantasy team? Who knows but you won’t find any action on this game until that question is answered.

New England -11.5 vs. Cleveland, 44.5, 11 a.m. CBS

patriots browns 2As of writing this sentence, the Browns don’t have a starting quarterback. Yes, I just said that in week 14…. Against Brady on the road? I’d probably give up another couple points. I’m taking the Patriots and taking them big. This is my personal big bet of the week and a DELIGHT Pick of the Week for you!!

NY Jets -2.5 vs. Oakland, 40.5, 11 a.m. CBS

your_sisterDamn there’s really a bunch of bad football this week.

The Raiders are going 8-4 against the spread, so there’s that. If you bet on this game your crazy and a special kind of crazy. I’d buy ya beer and date your sister. Go with Oakland.

Philadelphia -2.5 vs. Detroit, 54, 11 a.m. Fox

detroit phillyMatthew Stafford, Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson vs. Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson.  Should be a great game. The Eagles linebacker corps may be just a tiny bit better, so give me St Nick in December at home. Philly, lay the points.

Pittsburgh -3 vs. Miami, 40.5, 11 a.m. CBS

steelers dolphinsSteelers RB Le’Veon Bell emerged as a weapon in the passing game last week, and QB Ben Roethlisberger has eight touchdowns, zero interceptions and has been sacked just once in the past three games. The Steelers continue their playoff push while dousing the Dolphins’ postseason hopes.

Tampa Bay -2.5 vs. Buffalo, 43, 11 a.m. CBS

bills bucksIn this great game that nobody cares about, I’m taking the Bills. Yes, yes I know they are 1-4 on the road but they also have one of the best defenses in the NFL. In fact, I’ll take Buffalo’s pass rush as a DELIGHT Pick of The Week!!

Kansas City -3 at Washington, 45, 11 a.m. CBS

cheifs redskinsWow, how big of a game did this become for the Chiefs?? Washington might be the worst team in the league right now. The implosion of Shanahan and RGIII has been the best entertainment in that racist organization for a few years now. Their offensive line is a sieve, something that might spark a resurrection in the Chiefs’ dead pass-rush. Alex Smith has been appalling lately, granted his receivers haven’t helped him at all. Dropping pass after pass.

I’m taking the bigots in this game. I think Washington outright wins for two reasons. The Chiefs really aren’t a very good team and I have a personal bet that Denver goes deeper in the playoffs. Gotta admit, I hope like hell Kansas City doesn’t even MAKE the playoffs.

Baltimore -7 vs. Minnesota, 43, 11 a.m. Fox

ravens vikingsMatt Castle is starting for the Vikings. Do I really need to say anything more?  Ravens and lay the points.

Denver -12 vs. Tennessee, 49.5, 2:05 p.m. CBS

[Titans Owner Bud Adams]

It’s cold and I’m superstitious.  I’m taking the Titans and I can’t tell you why, it would break the superstition.

Arizona -6.5 vs. St. Louis, 41.5, 2:25 p.m. Fox

cardinals ramsThe St. Louis Rams suffered devastating injuries along the offensive line, leaving them young and inexperienced heading into this week’s matchup against the Rams top 10 defense. I’m taking the Cardinals as a DELIGHT Pick of the Week!!

San Diego -3 vs. NY Giants, 47.5, 2:25 p.m. Fox

chargers giantsThe Giants intercepted Chargers quarterback Dan Fouts five times in a 1986 victory, their most in series history. Terry Kinard and Kenny Hill each had two for Big Blue while Mark Collins had one. Betcha didn’t know that!! Don’t forget also that the Chargers originally drafted Eli way back in 2004. Bonus points if you know the other ‘big’ named quarterback taken in the top 15 of that draft.

The key is the Chargers defense. The unit ranks 29th in the NFL in total defense, allowing 386.6 yards per game and 23.0 points. I’m taking the number one pick and the Giants.

San Francisco -2.5 vs. Seattle, 41, 2:25 p.m. Fox

seahawks 49ersI can’t believe the 49ers had to send an e-mail to their fans on um, well how to be a fan. My WTF of the day. Should be a great game though.

Until Seattle proves me wrong, I will take them each and every week.

New Orleans -3.5 vs. Carolina, 45.5, 6:30 p.m. NBC

saints panthersIf the Panthers get a lead early the Saints are done. Going against Drew Brees isn’t the smartest decision I’m made in my life but I’m not a smart man. Ask any random ex-lover of mine. Carolina has a better defense. Plain and simple. The Saints lack elite players on defense. An issue that will kill them in the playoffs. Panthers with the upset.

Dallas at Chicago, Pick em game, 49.5, 6:30 p.m. Monday ESPN

bears packersCutler is out again as quarterback for the Bears but I still think they win this game. It’s going to be colder than hell in Chicago Monday night, (HOW COLD IS IT??) It’s colder than a polar bears toenail, It’s colder than the evil eye from your scorned wife, It’s colder than Mike Shanahan’s career.

But I digress; the only way for Dallas to win this game is to run the rock against the Bears porous run defense. It could absolutely happen but the Cowboys always find a way to make it difficult to make the playoffs every year. I’m taking Da Bears.

Notes; Mike Tomlin is getting fined at least $100,000 and possible draft penalties.  He should get all that and more, there is no place in football for interfering with a play when you’re not on the field. It’s dangerous too.  It would be difficult if I was Dan Rooney not to fire Tomlin for messing with my draft pick. Of course you can’t, Mike is a damn good coach but that simply cannot happen.  For you trivia nerds, Dan Rooney was the United States Ambassador to Ireland from July 3, 2009 until his resignation in 2012 and there is a character on General Hospital with the name of Dan Rooney.

I ain’t watching one minute of the Jets this year. They stink. I hope they lose enough, so that they can get a quarterback next year.
