Von Miller Faces Suspension

As if the off-the-field issues couldn’t get any worse for the Broncos, the news Monday topped the cake. Von Miller is facing a four-game suspension for violating NFL policy.

According to an NFL source, Miller tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana during his rookie season in the NFL. While the first offense of recreational drug use is to be put into a drug program, the second offense is a four-game suspension, which is what Von Miller is now facing.

Already having to deal with the DUI situations of Matt Russell and Tom Heckert, the Broncos are now faced with this. Von Miller, who had 18.5 sacks in 2012, could leave a gaping hole on the defense for the first fourth of the season.

In terms of on the field performance, the Broncos pass-rush immediately becomes a liability with the possible absence of Miller. Having already lost Elvis Dumervil in the fax-gate scandal that ending up with his signing with the Baltimore Ravens, the Broncos could now potentially lose their other elite pass rusher if Von Miller loses his appeal.

Now remember, Von Miller can still appeal the suspension, and don’t be incredibly surprised if he comes out victorious. In December of 2012, Seahawks Cornerback Richard Sherman won his appeal of a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, which most thought he wouldn’t.
