Koppen Reportedly Tears ACL

The bad news for the Denver Broncos continues to mount. On Sunday afternoon at Day Four of Training Camp, the team fears that starting Center Dan Koppen tore his ACL.

Koppen was carted off during Training Camp, and it didn’t look good from the start. National media has begun tweeting out that the MRI results don’t look good, and where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

If the Broncos are without Koppen, they will be down to third string at the center position. Koppen replaced J.D. Walton in the starting line-up last season when Walton broke and dislocated his left ankle on September 30th against the Raiders. Without Walton and now likely Koppen, the Broncos will have to look in the direction of Philip Blake. Blake, who was drafted in the 4th Round (108th overall) in 2012, played two years at Baylor where he started all 38 games at either center or right tackle for the Bears.

The Broncos could always look to add depth outside the organization which they’ll likely do anyways with Walton already out before this Koppen news, but regardless, now center is a big question for Denver. Hopefully the injuries in camp stop here. *Knock on wood*
