Hot Shooting Nets send Nuggets to another Loss

16 three pointers from the Nets and a season high of 25 by Brooklyn guard, C.J. Watson led the Nets to a 119-108 victory Wednesday night over the Nuggets. Yes, a loss and no tacos! The Nuggets did get Wilson chandler and Javale McGee back for their final game before the All Star break, but were still without their best defender Iggy and Danillo Gallinari, as both will rest up for the business end of the season.
The first half was a tightly contested affair with both teams going punch for punch. A relatively low scoring 1st quarter with the highlight being a buzzer beater 3 to end the quarter by the French express, Evan Fournier.

The buckets started flowing in the 2nd quarter and the Nets were on fire from hitting 9 three-pointers in the first half. Tired legs definitely started to affect the Nuggets as they allowed 39 points to the Nets in the 2nd quarter. Unacceptable.

The Nuggets main man these days Ty Lawson kept the Nuggets in the game and ended the half with 12 points and 5 dimes. Brook Lopez led the Nets with 12, and at the half Brooklyn was up 62-57. Not sure what was said in the locker-room, but Denver came out very flat in the 3rd quarter and Brooklyn smelled blood.

Brooklyn started the 2nd half on an 11-4 run and their lead grew to 89-69 at one point in the 3rd. Ty Lawson hit three triples to keep the Nuggets in striking distance, but still the defense was not good all night and the Nets who shot over 50% for the night led 95-81 after the 3rd.

Headed to the 4th, the Nuggets needed a jump start and a 13-6 cut the deficit to 7, but that was the closes the Nuggets would get. Lawson once again led all Nugget scorers with 26 and 9 assists, Jordan Hamilton had 15 and Mcgee put in 14 in the loss.

Joe Johnson led all Brooklyn scorers with 26 and 9 assists. Denver showed fight and a no quit attitude for a team that was not at full strength but a loss is a loss. No excuses though, they could not get the job done tonight and what started out with a victory vs. Cleveland on Saturday, ended tonight with a 1-4 road trip. Going to be a quiet plane ride back to the Mile High City.

So, Denver will head into the All-Star break with a record of 33-21, which puts them 5th in the West. During the All-Star break only Kenneth Faried will be in Houston for the events as he will be competing in the Slam Dunk contest. If he is smart and creative, I have no doubt the Manimal will leave Houston as the Slam Dunk champion.

The real business gets back underway on Tuesday when Denver will be looking to avenge the triple OT loss vs Boston. Back home in the fortress which is the Pepsi Center, the rested Nuggets will want to forget about the three straight losses. They will be ready for this one, watch out Boston!
